What an amazing experience with Phuket Dive Tours. We came from the USA having already completed our SSI pool testing and our paper exam. We planned to complete our open water dives as referrals when we arrived in Thailand. Dave was great in coordinating our referral and planning our dive trips. Jon was our primary dive master and we also had a second dive master since we had one adult , an 11yo and a 14yo. Jon was amazing- incredibly patient , kind, engaging and very informative. His years of experience, passion for diving and teaching are evident. He really was the perfect match for our family. The boats, crew, food, transportation were justThe icing on the cake. It was a flawless experience! Highly recommend!

I really can't say enough good things about the team here.I did a one day pool try dive here and I'm currently two days into my three day open water course. My partner is slightly less confident than I am and our instructor Jon is exactly the right mix of kind and assertive. She feels safe learning with him.The equipment provided to us for rental is high quality, sometimes even brand new, and we'll maintained.This is one of the only dive schools in the area with their own pool so if you want to avoid fighting with other schools in a shared pool of too many people during high season then this is definitely the place!Looking forward to finishing my SSI open water in the next few days and will definitely be back for me!

I did the Scuba Open Water Diving Course (SSI) with phuket dive tours and it has really got to be the best experience. My instructor, Jon was extremely patient and assuring as I was very unconfident with being in deep waters. He made sure that i was comfortable and kept encouraging me on. I definitely felt that i was in good hands with Jon! He is also extremely passionate and enthusiastic and goes above and beyond in taking amazing photos and sharing his experiences. He knows how to calm you down really well, taught me how not to be afraid of the wild life underwater. If you’re not confident like I was, you can trust Jon Parr!


I had a refresher course and 2 dives with John on a speedboat at Racha yai and Racha Noi. Two of my buddies completed their open water there and we were really happy with everything. John's courses are very thorough and detailled and he is also a fun lad. The coworkers and owner adjusted our whole program to our needs and were incredibly flexible. We also did a night dive with Benz and Kan which was also fun. The training pool didn't offer any shade and that would definitely help. To put it in a nutshell we were really satisfied with what we got for money and we can highly recommend this diving school and our instructor Jon.

The operation was created by Andrew Fortune, formerly an Instructor Trainer with TDI/SDI, CMAS *** Instructor(on the technical board), an IT with IANTD, an IT with PSAI, a Workshop Director with NAUI and MSDT with PADI and /DSAT. Andrew has been teaching Technical diving since 1996 and has produced dozens of Technical Instructors around the world for many different agencies. He was also a member of the Xpedition Team and the Extreme Technical Dive Team responsible for many world famous dive expeditions and was an active commercial offshore supervisor

Andrew passed away unfortunately on August 12th, 2011 from non-diving related illness. His legacy continues through his students and friends.

Ben Capitaine met Andrew in 1999 while working in Phuket and they have been friends since. Andrew was his mentor in technical diving, training him in trimix and cave diving as well as a range of technician courses. Together they have done a lot of technical dives in Thailand and Europe, markedly finding a traverse between Sra Keow 1 and 2 at 65m (through a tight restriction) and did some search and recovery of anchors involving 60min bottom times at 50m. In memory of Andrew, Ben Capitaine decided to relaunch Ocean Zone Divers and continue to pass on the philosophy of diving that Andrew had to his students. Ben is a CMAS 2* instructor since 1994, a PADI instructor since 1998 who assists Course Directors and teach all the PADI Tec courses, as well as a TDI Instructor Trainer and SDI Instructor Evaluator. He has also been credited by NAUI and SSI as instructor, bringing over 20 years of experience in teaching scuba diving to all levels around the globe. He is now the main technical dive instructor at Oceanzonedivers and partnered with one of the most successfull and longest active PADI Course Director on Phuket. Together they offer training to all range of courses and organizations, from beginner to 100m+ CCR cave explorers.

Ocean Zone Divers is in the process of moving to a new facility in Chalong, with state of the art classroom, workshop and equipment.

Although, Ocean Zone Divers is specialized in technical diving (TDI and PADI/DSAT), we also run the whole range of recreational courses for agencies such as PADI, SDI and SSI.
